4 Reasons You Need to Relax According to Science

Your eyes are closed.

It's dark. Everything is still.

Except you.

Your mind is racing... because you have a MILLION THINGS TO DO. (Sound familiar?)

This is your sign that you need a vacation! And I'm going to prove it.

You're Wrong If You Think You Don't Have Time For A Break.

Many people say there's too much to do. But in reality, if you put your physical and mental needs first, when you get back from vacation you'll be more productive and effective.

Vacations make you a better employee! It's a scientific fact!

Go ahead and sit in the sand with a drink in your hand. After all, science says so.

The Top 4 Reasons You Need To Take a Break

1. Improved productivity.

When Ernst & Young conducted an internal study of its employees, they found that for each additional 10 hours of vacation time employees took, their year-end performance ratings improved 8 percent.

"10 hours of vacation time per employee = 8% increase on year-end performance ratings."

2. Stress reduction.

A recent study last year by the American Psychological Association proved that vacations reduce stress by removing people from the activities and environments that they associate with stress and anxiety.

How would it feel to be less stressed in your work day?

How much more would you accomplish with a peace of mind?

3. Heart disease prevention.

Recent studies also found women who took a vacation once every six years or less were almost eight times more likely to develop heart disease, have a heart attack, or die of a coronary-related cause than those who took at least two vacations a year.

4. Better sleep.

Restless nights and disrupted sleep are common complaints--often stemming from the fact that we simply have too much on our minds. When we can't stop the chatter it affects our sleep, and a lack of sleep leads to less focus, less alertness, impaired memory, an increased likelihood of accidents. Better sleep leads to better quality of life.
