5 Marketing Promotions You Should Definitely Be Using in 2017

The best marketers have already included these five things in their marketing plan for 2017.

Take a look at your plan for the new year. If you don't have these promotions included somehow,  you could majorly be missing out.

1. Back-end value.

Ok, you got me, I made up the term "back-end" value. (At least in the realm of marketing.) But just track with me here.

In back-end selling, you sell to your existing customers to enhance whatever you sold on the front end. In back-end value, you don't necessarily have to sell something to add value to your customers.

For example, if you are a hospital, consider following up with patients who have been there in the last month. Mail them free info on how to keep healthy this season along with pocket hand sanitizer. You've instantly become more valuable to the patient and (bonus!) if your hospital's name is on the sanitizer, patients will see your name every time they reach to sanitize.

2. Email Marketing.

Don't tune me out just yet. Believe it or not, email marketing is still relevant. More than Facebook ads, sponsored tweets, or buying followers. Emails still get more response than any other social media. Be careful not to underestimate the value of a promo code/coupon within an email.

If you need some inspiration, here are some examples of email marketing done the right way.

3. Personalization.

A neurological study showed that the part of a person's brain that is activated when talking about him/herself is the same as the stimulation the brain receives when exposed to cocaine.

People love to talk about themselves.

As a marketer, you should be capitalizing on this! I think the inventor of the "selfie stick" will back me up here when I say that playing into our self absorbed society can pay off. Kroger does a great job of this with the tailored coupons that are printed after check out. These coupons are personalized based on purchase history. It's safe to say they may even know your shopping habits more than you do!

4. User Generated Content.

Consumers should be the most important component of your marketing strategy. Word of mouth and referrals are hand-down the best way to spread positivity about your brand. If others endorse you, new customers are way more likely to trust your brand's authenticity. Think about how much more likely you are to buy something if one of your Facebook friends raves about it.

5. Video Marketing.

Did you know that including a video on your homepage can increase conversion rates by 80%? Or that 92% of mobile viewers share videos with others?

Video marketing is a great way to communicate your brand's story with your customer. An article I read recently described video marketing as easy on the eyes, easy on the brain. I love that because that's how our marketing should be. Simple. Easy.

There are countless benefits to video marketing. The majority of marketers are already on this train.

If you perfect your video marketing you'll quickly rise above the pack. Promise.

Let's resolve together to focus on these things and make 2017 our most successful marketing year yet.
